What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses hypnosis, or a trance-like state of deep relaxation and heightened suggestibility, to treat various mental and physical conditions. The therapist will gently guide the patient into a hypnotic state using various techniques such as verbal repetition and mental imagery. Once in this state, the therapist makes suggestions to the client designed to address specific issues or problems, such as anxiety, addiction or chronic pain.

The idea behind hypnotherapy is that the hypnotic state allows the client to access and address unconscious thoughts, feelings and beliefs that may be influencing their behaviour or symptoms. The therapist can also use hypnosis to help the client in developing new, positive habits or behaviours, or to change their perspective on certain troubling issues.


It's important to notice that not every person is hypnotisable to the same degree, and hypnosis is not magic but put simply a way to access the mind and focus it on a goal with more intensity and less distraction.


In general, hypnotherapy is considered to be a safe and effective treatment option for a variety of conditions. However, it is important to work with a qualified and experienced therapist who is trained in hypnotherapy techniques.
