WHAT KINDS OF PEOPLE SEEK COUNSELLING?

People decide to seek counselling for a variety of reasons. These could include:

Mental health concerns: some people may decide to seek counselling in order to address a mental health concern, such as anxiety, depression or post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). 

Life transitions: some people decide to seek counselling in order to help them cope with any major life transitions they are going through. These could include relationship breakdown or divorce, death of a loved one, gender identity issues or perhaps retirement. 

Relationship problems: some people may decide to seek counselling in order to help them resolve relationship problems. These could be communication issues, infidelity or perhaps abuse. 

Personal growth: some people may choose to seek counselling in order to help them grow as individuals. This could be through the development of their self-esteem, setting goals or resolving past traumas. 

It's safe to say that there is no ‘one size fits all’ answer to the question of who decides to seek counselling. All sorts of people from all walks of life seek counselling for a variety of reasons. If you find you are struggling with something in your life counselling can be a good way for you to find support and guidance.
